pyvisa software package provides Python bindings for Virtual Instrument Software Architecture, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pyvisa
pyvisa is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pyvisa package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pyvisa *
You will get with pyvisa package name, version, architecture and description in a table
